Hubbuch studied at the academy in Karlsruhe. In 1929 he won the First Graphic Award of the Euporion Publishing House and became professor at the Landeskunstschule in Karlsruhe. Due to his political alignment he was suspended from his professorship in 1933. After the war he was assigned professor at the Akademie of Karlsruhe.
His work was honoured by many international exhibitions, for example in 1977 "Tendenzen der zwanziger Jahre, Neue Nationalgalerie" in Berlin, 'Les réalismes 1919-1939'. Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, 1980/81, 'Karl Hubbuch. Retrospektive', Städtische Galerie, Karlsruhe, 1994
His works are owned by renowned national and international museums and private collections worldwide.
