An impressively large and remarkable ivory netsuke of Eguchi no Kimi, by Tomochika. Mid-19th century
The courtesan Eguchi no Kimi sits with a long scroll over her knees on a very large reclining elephant, her robes minutely incised with a large asa-no-ha pattern and flowery scrolls to the borders. The writing on the scroll is illegible. Signed Chikuyôsai Tomochika with kaô.
